How does ASTM C231 Measure Air Content?
During testing, a technician fills the measuring device bowl with new concrete, strikes it to eliminate voids, installs the lid, and injects water into the system to fill the space between the concrete and the lid. After releasing the pressure between the chamber and bowl, the attached gauge displays the apparent air content.
